REAL STATE BUSINESS MOVING TO MOBILE

Files under General | Jan 13th

trulia-layar-on-iphone

When the CEO of Google says that very soon they will make more money with Mobile than with Internet, imagine a Mobile Tablet and you will understand why the Apple coming tablet could be a dramatic innovation.

Business are moving to Mobile.

Realtor, like Zillow and Sawbuck, are taking their listings to the iPhone.

If you use Realtor, you will be able to access to about 4 million listings across the United States that they say are updated every 15 minutes.

Realtor say the new app will allow home shoppers to search for open houses within a 20-mile radius, sorted by location or date. Users can take camera-phone photos of listings as they tour them, assign them star ratings, jot notes on the phone, and quickly post listings to their Twitter or Facebook pages–or e-mail them to friends, family and their buyer’s agent.

Many newspapers still think that the only strategy to save their classifieds is to move them to Internet.

Well, too late.

Move tham to Mobile.

That’s the future.

AN ONLY 20-DAY LONG BLOG ABOUT THE APPLE TABLET LAUNCH

Files under General | Jan 7th

2010-01-07_2038

I am starting tomorrow in www.lainformacion.com an only 20-day long blog in Spanish about the launch of the new Apple tablet.

I will ended in San Francisco on January 27th when Steve Jobs presents the tablet.

In less than 24 hours, Mario Tascon, Vanesa Jimenez, Jorge Martin Luengo and Antonio Pasagali from Diximedia made the miracle.

What a team!

And thanks too, to Luis Grañena that will draw one superb caricature every day just for the blog.

See above the first one about Steve Jobs,

THE APPLE TABLET IS COMING, SO OUR NEWSROOMS MUST BE READY

Files under General | Jan 2nd

Apple-Tablet-Confirmed-in-Australia

Yes, the Apple Tablet, “Slate” or “Guide” is coming.

Like the ones from HP, Dell and others.

But, let’s remember a few basic ideas:

1. The problem is the quality, exclusivity and accessibility of our content, not the platforms.

2. Kindle or Apple tablet are not the solutions.

3. As Jeff Jarvis said: “Newspaper publishers must unleash their news on every device possible. No single gadget will be their saviour”

So, information does need “paper jails” nor new technological jails.

What we need to worry is not about these new devices, but the old assembly-line-one deadline-one platform newsroom management system that still prevails in 99% of our newspapers.

We need more “one kitchen, several restaurants” newsroom multimedia models.

We need to focus in multimedia content management.

We need to migrate from media companies to “information engines.”

And from readers to audiences and communities.

Technology is not the problem, nor the solution.

So, welcome the tablets, and better if they become as soon as possible rubber tablets.

And let’s concentrate in how to migrate from monomedia to multimedia newsrooms.

Be ready!
