False alarm: The Wall Street Journal posted an urgent bulletin earlier this afternoon reporting that Obama had selected Tim Kaine as his running mate.
The paper has issued an apologetic statement:
“The Journal news department was sent an erroneous announcement about the selection of a vice presidential candidate for Barack Obama.
Once we realized the announcement was erroneous, we immediately withdrew the headline.
We regret any inconvenience this caused our readers.”
