Apple will start selling its new iPhone at 8 a.m. across U.S. time zones on July 11 and plans to activate customer accounts with AT&T Inc. within 15 minutes.
Apple’s more than 185 retail stores in the U.S. each aim to handle about 100 customers an hour, he said.
The iPhone 3G, which works on faster third-generation wireless networks, will go on sale in 22 countries this week.

The 8-gigabyte model will cost $199, and the 16-gigabyte version, $299.
The phone comes in black or white.
The iPhone 3G will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Arrive early to get in line as daily quantities will be limited by stock on hand.
