These are interesting “explanations” for the Heathrow crash landing from readers of several British newspapers.

From The Times:

They ran out of fuel. And deserve to be fired and imprisoned
Bobby, Boca Raton, USA

What scares me is that the oxygen masks deployed and why would they do this at low altitude? With the reported fuel leak, having oxygen around is not a good thing.
Tim Curtis, Fife, WA

At the risk of sounding paranoid, has the possibility of a terrorist act affecting the electronics/computer systems been considered by the experts?
Sian, Australia.

Would it be possible to program the plane’s computer while it was parked in Beijing to shut both engines down on long finals at Heathrow in a deliberate attempt at sabotage?
Nick Paxton, Northallerton , N Yorks

From the Daily Mail:

If there was water in the fuel, BA has to look into the possibility of sabotage.
Paul, Bucks, England

The first thing that comes to mind is fuel starvation. Are both engines drawing from the same tank? If dedicated tanks were in use, simultaneous failure would be again a thousand to one probability. If it were fuel starvation, it wouldn’t be the first to have fuel level sensors problems.
Melvin Brantley, Summerfield FL USA

Water, condensation, in fuel is a common problem. In my day as a ramp engineer water drains in each wing were routinely checked every morning before the first flight of an aircraft. In high humidity areas such as Singapore it was not unusual to drain a hundred gallons of water from a 747’s fuel tanks. These days aircraft are seldom on the ground long enough for the condensation to settle to the bottom of the fuel tanks and to be drained off.
David Hawk, New Zealand

All this nonsense about medals etc for the crew should be kept on hold until the report comes out.
Martin, Ashford
