Francisco Pinto Balsemao returned last week to the newsroom of Expresso to edit the leading quality weekly newspaper of Portugal.
He founded Expresso and was its editor from 1973 to 1980. Last week was the 35th anniversary of the paper and Pinto Balsemao acted as “editor of the week.”
The newspaper looks good and has many emotional details.
Expresso turns 35 years old, but is fresher and younger than ever.
With 117,000 copies on average, Expresso was redesigned by INNOVATION 15 months ago. Since then, new and younger readers have endorsed the work lead by Carlos Soria, Marta Botero and Javier Errea.

Henrique Monteiro, the current editor (except for last week!), explained Expresso’s secret with the right words:
