It’s a joke!

The BBC Web site has more than 3,300 comments about the £400,000 (almost $800,000) logo for the London Olympic Games.

“We’ve had a huge reaction to the launch of the new logo – most of it negative” said the Interactive Olympics editor Claire Stock.

The logo was designed by Wolff Ollins.

Well… the reaction has been unanimous:

“This reminds me of the mosaic break-up when my TV goes wrong.”

“What a mess!”

“Horrible!!!”

“Well, what can I say… They’ve certainly succeeded in getting people involved, that’s for sure. Shameful… ”

“Oh My God ! It’s embarassing ! ”

“Absolute rubbish, as usual the powers to be are out of touch, they should of asked Primary Schools to design one.”

“If that is the best that we can come up with for the most important event in decades for this country, we should just pack it all in now.”

“in a word, apalling. Who came up with that, and how much were they paid??? It is a complete mess. It might help if the “blocks” actually resemble the number they were meant to resemble! Absolutely terrible.”

“It looks like a broken swastika.”

“I didn’t realise that the shapes made up the numbers 2012 until I read the editorial, so the concept failed miserably. ”

“Come on people – sign the petition!”

There are, right now, more than 32,000 petitions against the logo.
