I found your first comment and here it is again just for the record:

Hello, it’s your intrepid and unaware photographer, Jacob Harris, with a bit of context. While those are indeed pictures from the interior of the New York Times Building, that is NOT the newsroom. I work for the website as a software developer, not a journalist. The ACTUAL future newsroom for the building is a long continuous space in the back (not the narrow tower) that spans half a block and is 3 stories tall. That was still under construction during our tour (the newsroom is moving in the summer), so there were no cubicles arranged, but I think the plan is to be more open and collaborative than the existing maze-like conditions at the paper. Perhaps you can find pictures in other Flickr accounts later this summer. In the meantime, there are some floorplans on http://www.newyorktimesbuilding.com/ (the stacking diagram illustrates the relationship between the tower and the newsroom parts), although this site is admittedly targeted towards potential renters in the tower.

Thank you Jacob, again.

And I am sorry but your first comment went away.

All our readers must know that according to Jacob, these pictures are from the building but NOT from the newsroom.

As you can see in the Flickr file there were no captions telling that.

I hope that this confusion helps to build a better newsroom.

Thousand of visitors have been reading this post in the last few hours (my record ever), and perhaps the lesson will be learned also by other newspapers designing newsrooms.

Juan,

It's actually much nicer in person and the cubicles have some good features like integrated shelves, personal ventilation and the like to make them humane and livable. I also get to sit right by a floor to ceiling window which is nice. You can see mine and all other pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/nytimesbuilding/ I think. Enjoy!

Jake

PS I'm moving into the new building in 2 weeks. I guess you'll see more photos of the place occupied then.

Thank you, Jacob!

Good news if these pictures are not from the future newsroom.

And I am still sorry for the people that they will have to work in this zoo.

I don´t find your pictures anymore on Flickr, so I couldn´t double check if there was any caption explaining what you say now.

Sorry for any unwanted trouble that this can cause to you.

Unfortunately, this kind of furniture is everywhere.
