NEWSROOM INTEGRATION IN LATIN AMERICAN NEWSPAPERS

I am back in Norfolk after 10 days in Latin America and I read this report from El Tiempo in Bogota, Colombia (in Spanish) about a research study in 43 leading newspapers of the area.

Some headlines (with my comments):

74% of newsrooms will be integrated online and offline very soon (good direction)

4% are integrated right now (which ones?)

50% of Web pages include blogs (that’s good)

42% of the Web sites have three or less journalists (another reason to integrate)

24% have between 4 and 8 journalists.

And only one has almost 35 journalists (which one?)

42% of the print newsrooms generate content several times a day for the web edition (still low).
