In its Looking Forward section, the online edition of The Economist alerts about former newspaper baron Lord Black going on trial in Chicago. He is charged with fraud, racketeering, obstruction of justice, money-laundering and tax evasion.

Black will confront the judge with three other former executives of Hollinger International, a media group which owned the Chicago Sun-Times, the Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Jerusalem Post.

They are accused of siphoning millions of dollars from the company between 1998 and 2001.

Conrad Black, and the others, who face years in prison if found guilty, vigorously profess their innocence.
