VISAO is the absolute leader of the newsmagazine market in Portugal.
But a team of INNOVATION consultants has been working since last year in a major editorial and graphic change.
Tomorrow is the launch day for the new VISAO.
180,000 copies.
Against the trend, the size is bigger.
With a new and a stronger logo.
More powerful typography and layout.
A second generation of “quick-read formats.”
Dramatic photojournalism.
News?
Yes, but with more stories than ever.
Stories.
Stories.
Stories.
The indentity and the voice of the magazine is the same.
VISAO has been always a publication with “soul” and these changes have not diminished this unique personality.
INNOVATION has been working with the VISAO team for many years and with the death of Carlos Caceres (1948-2006, the former editor, a few months ago, we lost a very special friend and one of the country’s best journalists.
He was one of the founders of the magazine 14 years ago.
This new VISAO is our homage to him and to the tradition of hard news, quality journalism that Carlos loved so much.
When news magazines are becoming irrelevant “news-weaker magazines,” VISAO and INNOVATION believe that the future is:
Anticipatory journalism.
Hard news and news behind the news.
Personal and compelling stories.
Visual journalism.
Dramatic photojournalism and, as Carlos Caceres always did, reporting, reporting, reporting.
The INNOVATION team lead by Carlos Soria (Spain) and Marta Botero (Colombia), with Guillermo Nagore (USA) as the project’s design guru Eduardo Tessler (Brazil) with the new online formula and Michael Agar (UK) with the new infographics approach, had the privilege of working with Perdro Camarcho, editor of VISAO, and Vasco Ferreira its great new art director.
The newsroom and management of VISAO have done a first-class job implementing the new formula, and IMPRESA and EDIPRESSE, the owners of the magazine must be very proud of such a team.
Carlos Caceres must be very happy too.
His dream is alive.
