But just a few hours later Tony Blair announced unexpected news.
British troops are leaving Iraq.
Again and again our best editors, columnists and reporters do not get the story in advance.
A lack of very much needed anticipatory journalism.
What we need now is more “why” and “what’s next” stories.
Not just easy polls.
Or yesterday’s news.
