THE ECONOMIST: A CONTROVERSIAL VIEW ABOUT THE FUTURE OF NEWSPAPERS
In tomorrow's, the British publication presents a very disturbing picture about our industry's future. The cover is very direct.
The leader very skeptical.
And the The Economist">special report not very balanced, as they try to show the declining trend at least in some European and American markets.
The question here is that this industry is very diverse, and you always will found great exceptions to any rule.
INNOVATION, as many of you in many countries and many markets, can document almost the opposite examples and trends to the ones presented by The Economist.
The Economists likes to call itself a "newspaper" (news on print) but they have a first class on line edition, and both are publications well done that serve elites around the world, making a lot of money with a very simple formula that INNOVATION calls the "magical circle"
The first ethical duty of any media company is to make MONEY.
If you make money, you will be INDEPENDENT.
If you are independent, you will get CREDIBILITY.
If you have credibility, you will find READERS.
If you attract readers, you will get ADVERTISING.
And if you get advertising, you will make MONEY.
Well, newspapers will die or kill themselves as soon as they become not profitable.
Our independence, credibility, readers, advertising depends of our professional skills to make money.
The rest is history.
