AN OLD STORY FROM THE FINANCIAL TIMES
The Financial Times is cutting 51 reporter positions, more than the 40 originally expected.Management has asked for voluntary redundancies, despite protests from the National Union of Journalists.
A spokeswoman for the FT said that joining its print and online divisions:
"Costs will be cut, but this is not about cost cutting, it's about restructuring the newsroom in a multimedia age. It is an editorial move."
OK. Very good, but let's see...
FT was one of the first papers in the world to announce more than three years ago, that they will integrate on and off line newsrooms.
Why they are now saying the same?
Somebody has to tell us the truth.

Hi Juan
And what's your theory about that move?
Please, read my today's post about Dow Jones.
They have the same problems, and they will end with the same solution:
Full integration and, perhaps, with a new editor comming from the online operation.
The new editor of BusinessWeek came from the WSJ online...
