THE NEW BBC AS AN INFORMATION ENGINE

See Jeff Jarvis comments about the new changes announced by BBC Director General Mark Thompson.

It is a big reorganization for a “360-degree, multiplatform content creation" or what INNOVATION will call an "information engine".

Since the late 90´s we have defined the INNOVATION vision saying:

"From media companies, to information engines."

Why?

Because the old model of multi-media holdings is dead.

What we need is real digital integration.

Not media-portfolio companies, working with a silo-mentality.

With a media-silo-model.

Recently we were presenting this kind of model to one of our European clients that is going to become a 1 billion euros multi-media company.

The message was the same:

Become a digital "information egine"

Be media-platform agnostic.
rememberer that you are content, content, content.

Do not forget that you soul must be always journalism, journalism, journalism.
