MORE FUEL FOR THE RESURGENCE OF EBOOKS
According to Engadget, Apple may be planning to leverage the large screen of future iPods to distribute eBooks on a proprietary format.
In that case, the iTunes music store, which also sells videos and audiobooks, might make a strong move into the text arena.
iPods can already display text in notes format and it makes sense to me for Apple to extend the functionality to present written materials. But in that case, why not an HTML capable client? The iPod already displays pictures and text. Its just a matter of mixing them both.
It would be even better if one could synch webpages to your iPod. Ultimately, when WiFi enabled iPods become a reality, the iPod would in fact become a true Portable Media Player, where media would cover the full gamut.
I think they are on track. What do you think?
